GAJA Barbaresco 2019
We are facing one of the cornerstones of Piedmontese enology capable of relaunching a denomination to world attention: Angelo Gaja’s Barbaresco. A very high quality Nebbiolo in a full and generous version with fine tannins and a fruity aftertaste.
Barbaresco di Gaja is a 100% Nebbiolo coming from 14 owned vineyards located at varying altitudes between 250 and 330 meters above sea level. Low yields, in the order of 40 Hl per hectare. Fermentation in steel tanks and aging for 6 months in barriques and another 18 in large oak barrels.
Gaja is one of the most prestigious Italian wineries. It was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, but has become the star of contemporary oenology with Angelo Gaja – Giovanni’s great-grandson, who was the first to introduce innovative technological concepts and practices in the Langa. Today Angelo Gaja is still the owner of the winery, although much of the management work is entrusted to his two daughters. In addition to the Piedmontese companies, in recent years Gaja has also expanded into Tuscany, where it now owns several vineyards in the most suitable areas of Bolgheri and Montalcino
