Description
Gaja’s Barbaresco originates from 14 estate-owned vineyards located in the municipality of Barbaresco, covering a total area of approximately 21.4 hectares at altitudes ranging from 250 to 330 meters. The vines, with an average age of around 40 years, are planted exclusively with Nebbiolo, a variety particularly sensitive to differences in soil composition.
It is precisely this variety of vineyard plots that gives the wine its complexity: the grapes are vinified separately, and each batch ages in wood for 12 months prior to blending and a further year of aging in oak. This wine is a true reflection of the history of the Gaja family, present in Barbaresco since 1859 and now in its fifth generation.
In the glass, it combines red fruit, florals, fine spices, and mineral notes with a substantial yet balanced structure, featuring refined tannins and a long finish. A Barbaresco crafted for long-term bottle aging.
