Description
Balanced, smooth, and complex, Gaja Dagromis Barolo allows Barolo lovers to appreciate the art of Gaja at an affordable price. It takes its name from the old owners of the vineyard in La Morra, the Gromis family, from which part of the grapes for this Barolo come. The rest of the grapes come from Gaja’s other property in Serralunga d’Alba. Both vineyards have clay-marly soils in common. The grapes ferment in steel tanks at a controlled temperature and then mature for a year in barrique, followed by 18 months in large barrels.
Gaja is one of the most prestigious Italian wineries. It was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, but became the star of contemporary winemaking with Angelo Gaja – Giovanni’s great-grandson, who first introduced innovative technological concepts and practices to the Langa. Today Angelo Gaja is still the owner of the winery, although much of the management work is entrusted to his two daughters. In addition to the Piedmontese companies, Gaja has also expanded into Tuscany in recent years, where it now owns several vineyards in the most suitable areas of Bolgheri and Montalcino
