Description
Buiano is a Gran Selezione produced by Antinori at the estate of the same name located in Castellina in Chianti. It is a “single vineyard” wine from the western slope of the appellation, situated at an altitude of approximately 300 meters. The soil, characterized by clay and a high presence of rock fragments (scheletro), provides the wine with significant structure and a distinct mineral edge.
Tasting Notes
-
Color: Intense ruby red.
-
Nose: Direct and clean. Dominant aromas of ripe red fruits (cherry, blackberry) accompanied by notes of forest floor, tobacco, and subtle spicy hints from the oak.
-
Palate: Great structure and volume. The palate is savory, with firm but well-integrated tannins. A bright acidity balances the generous alcohol content (15%), ensuring a deep profile and a persistent finish.
Vinification
Grapes are strictly selected and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for approximately 11 months in French oak tonneaux (500 liters) and completes its evolution with an extensive period of bottle aging before release.
In Short
A 100% Sangiovese with great character, focusing on power and longevity. It represents the more structured expression of the Castellina terroir, perfect for those seeking a full-bodied wine with excellent aging potential.
Food Pairing
Grilled red meats, game, and aged cheeses.
