Description
Gaja Barbaresco 2021 is a wine of grace and determination, with an elegant bouquet and subtle nuances typical of the finesse of Nebbiolo, with crushed flowers, coriander, berries, smoke, tar and candied orange peel. We are facing one of the cornerstones of Piedmontese enology capable of relaunching a denomination to world attention: the Barbaresco of Angelo Gaja. A very high quality Nebbiolo in a full and generous version with a fine tannins and fruity aftertaste. Barbaresco di Gaja is a 100% Nebbiolo from 14 owned vineyards located at variable altitudes between 250 and 330 m above sea level. Low yields, in the order of 40 Hl per hectare. Fermentation in steel tanks and aging for 6 months in barriques and another 18 in large oak barrels.
Gaja is one of the most prestigious Italian wineries. It was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, but became the star of contemporary winemaking with Angelo Gaja – Giovanni’s great-grandson, who first introduced innovative technological concepts and practices to the Langa. Today Angelo Gaja is still the owner of the cellar, even if most of the management work is entrusted to his two daughters. In addition to the Piedmontese companies, Gaja has also expanded into Tuscany in recent years, where it now owns several vineyards in the most suitable areas of Bolgheri and Montalcino
