A small production run of 5,000 bottles, the Dievole Bolgheri Superiore 2016 Tenuta Meraviglia Maestro di Cava displays a rich and broad personality. On the nose hints of dark fruit, ripe plum, blackberry and a touch of sweet and toasted spices. As the wine evolves in the glass, it shows hints of rosemary, black olive, dried oregano and other strongly Mediterranean accents. This winning expression of Cabernet Franc strikes a formidable balance, a trait common to all of Dievole’s offering, whether it comes from here on the Tuscan coast or in the Chianti Classico hinterland where this company also operates. The maturation of the harvest is well managed, as is the elegant use of oak wood.
