Description
The Chianti Rùfina Riserva “Vigneto Erchi” 2019 from Fattoria Selvapiana represents one of the most refined expressions of Sangiovese from the Rùfina area. This wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown in the Erchi vineyard, located in the municipality of Pontassieve, at an altitude of between 150 and 200 meters above sea level. The vineyard, acquired in 1998 and planted in 1999, covers six hectares and is characterized by iron-rich calcareous soils, which give the wine a distinctive mineral structure.
The 2019 harvest benefited from ideal climatic conditions, allowing for optimal ripening of the grapes. The vinification involves spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled steel tanks, followed by maceration for about 35 days. The wine then matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, further refining in the bottle before being released for sale.
To the eye, the “Vigneto Erchi” 2019 has an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it offers elegant aromas of ripe red fruits, floral notes of rose, and hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate, the wine shows a perfect balance between well-integrated tannins and lively acidity, with a lingering, enveloping finish that reflects the typical character of high-altitude Sangiovese.
With an alcohol content of 14%, this Chianti Rùfina Riserva is ideal for pairing with rich dishes, roasted meats, and aged cheeses. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16-18 °C to fully appreciate its organoleptic qualities.
Fattoria Selvapiana, founded in 1827 and owned by the Giuntini family, is renowned for producing wines that express the essence of Chianti Rùfina, combining tradition and innovation while respecting the land.
