Description
Barolo “Villero” 2021 – Giacomo Fenocchio
100% Nebbiolo | Villero, Castiglione Falletto – Langhe, Piedmont
Villero is one of the most distinctive crus of Castiglione Falletto, with vines over 65 years old exposed to the southwest. The Helvetian soils, composed of calcareous-clay marls rich in iron, give the wine both solidity and depth, combined with a natural elegance.
The Giacomo Fenocchio estate, founded in the 19th century and now run by the fifth generation, interprets this vineyard with a traditional approach: spontaneous fermentations, long macerations of about 40 days, and aging in large Slavonian oak casks for more than 30 months.
The 2021 vintage stands out for its precision and refinement: aromas of spices, aromatic herbs, licorice, and balsamic hints; on the palate, it is broad and vibrant, with ripe red fruits, floral tones, and orange zest supported by taut tannins and a lively acidity.
This is a Barolo of great personality, built for long aging, offering an authentic and incisive expression of the Villero cru and of the Fenocchio family’s traditional philosophy.
