Description
Ettore Germano Hérzu is a Riesling that comes from the hills south of Dogliani, half an hour’s drive from Serralunga d’Alba, the company’s headquarters. Born as an experiment, it later turned out to be a wine capable of giving great satisfaction.
The soils are rich in limestone, the altitude offers excellent freshness, and year after year the ‘Hérzu’ (steep in dialect) shows more and more clearly the classic character of Riesling.
Notes of lime peel, wet stones and flowers on the nose, with a slight hint of hydrocarbon aroma. Vinification and aging in steel. It drinks well young, but has the potential to gain complexity if left to rest for a few years.
Sergio Germano is at the helm of the company founded by his father Ettore, north of Serralunga. After completing his studies at the School of Oenology in Alba, Sergio then worked for a few years at Fontanafredda, one of the largest wineries in the area, before returning to the family estate in 1993.
