Description
The Castello di Meleto Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG ‘Vigna Poggiarso’ is a prestigious Tuscan red wine that authentically represents the Chianti Classico terroir. Made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown in the Poggiarso vineyard at an altitude of 560 meters above sea level, this wine showcases the purity and elegance typical of the variety.
Vinification and Aging:
The grapes, handpicked and carefully selected, are destemmed and gently crushed. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by maceration on the skins for about 15-20 days. After racking, the wine is transferred to cement tanks to facilitate settling and malolactic fermentation. Aging continues for 27 months in 50-hL French oak barrels.
Organoleptic Characteristics:
•Color: Bright purple with garnet hues as it ages.
•Aroma: A fragrant bouquet of red fruits, blueberries, blackcurrant, and violet.
•Taste: Full-bodied and fresh, with direct but harmonious tannins, leading to a long and savory finish.
Food Pairings:
Thanks to its pronounced freshness, this wine pairs perfectly with meat dishes with a good level of fattiness. It is also an excellent match for medium-intensity soft or aged cheeses.
