Description
Castell’in Villa is a small property in Castelnuovo Berardenga, at the southern end of the Chianti Classico region. Both the Chianti Classico and the Riserva are pure Sangiovese, vinified with spontaneous fermentations and aged in traditional large barrels.
The owner of the estate, Coralia Pignatelli della Leonessa, has never had any doubts about the path to follow to achieve the quality she aims for: tradition, tradition, tradition.
The resulting wines are fragrant, distinctive, long-lived and delicious, proof that the Sangiovese grape can reach peaks of excellence when grown in the right place.
The Chianti Classico Riserva di Castell’in Villa comes from vineyards located on alluvial soil with limestone, clay and sand.
The must ferments in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts, kept on the skins for just over two weeks, and aged in large oval barrels for two or three years, depending on the harvest. For critics, one of the reference labels for fans of Sangiovese and great wines in general.
