Description
Castellare di Castellina Vigna Il Poggiale Chianti Classico Riserva 2023 is a very exuberant wine. Il Poggiale comes from a single vineyard planted in 1988. Produced only in exceptional vintages, the 2015 is a blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, and 5% Ciliegiolo. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in new barriques for 18 months before spending another 16 months aging in the bottle prior to release.
Castellare di Castellina is Paolo Panerai’s Chianti estate in Castellina in Chianti.
Their wines feature labels that do not go unnoticed and have by now achieved cult status among enthusiasts.
With each vintage, the Castellare label features a different small bird, symbolizing the estate’s commitment to environmentally friendly farming. The birds selected for the labels are among the rarest creatures in Chianti and represent species threatened with extinction—primarily due to synthetic chemicals and hunting, both of which are prohibited on the property.
The estate comprises 33 hectares of vineyards set in a beautiful natural amphitheater, with vines reaching up to 45 years of age.
