Description
The Badia a Coltibuono Occhio di Pernice Vin santo del Chianti Classico opens with a dark copper color and wonderfully intense aromas of dried fruits, figs, honey, brown sugar and maple syrup. There is a vein of warmth that underscores the sweetness and ripeness of the fruit. Charming and meditative.
Located in Gaiole in Chianti, the history of Badia a Coltibuono dates back to 1051 and to the order of Vallombrosan monks. The current owners are the brothers Emanuela, Roberto, Paolo and Guido Stucchi Prinetti. There are 74 hectares of vineyards for the most part in the Monti sub-area still in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. One of the prides of Badia a Coltibuono is the heritage of ancient settlers of Sangiovese, used to replant key sites with higher densities, of 7-8,000 Sangiovese plants per hectare. In 1996 the new cellar in Monti saw the light, and with the 2003 harvest came the organic certification
