A pure expression of Pinot Noir from the heart of Chianti, Podere Monastero La Pineta 2023 is a wine that reveals aromas of berries and cherries followed by spices, cedar wood and a touch of cinnamon. We need to give this wine a few more years to achieve better integration. The mouth is fresh and spicy with flavors of green mint and dried ginger. The effect is super intense and enveloping. It’s definitely a different expression of French Pinot Noir, but there’s something totally irresistible about it that makes it unmissable. Podere Monastero is the property of Alessandro Cellai in Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico. Cellai produces just two wines, a Pinot Noir and a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot, both made in a rich, fruity style that acknowledges Cellai’s love of New World wines.
