Chianti Classico Gran Selezione “L’Omino” 2021 – Fattoria Pomona
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione “L’Omino” 2021 by Fattoria Pomona embodies the purest expression of Tuscan Sangiovese, sourced from a 26-year-old single vineyard in Castellina in Chianti. This cru is the beating heart of the estate, passionately run by Monica Raspi, who chose to continue her family’s winemaking tradition with elegance and personality.
The grapes, 100% Sangiovese, are organically farmed, hand-harvested, and fermented with native yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with a skin maceration of about three weeks, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 15 months in large Slavonian oak casks, refined for 9 additional months in cement vats, and finally spends at least 6 months in bottle before release.
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red color. The nose is complex and expressive, with notes of dried flowers, sour cherry preserves, leather, and fine spices. On the palate, it is structured and elegant, with well-integrated tannins, lively freshness, and savory minerality, leading to a long, harmonious finish.
With its limited production, this is one of the most authentic and refined expressions of Chianti Classico—ideal with red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Best served at 18–20°C, after a short decanting.
