Valdicava is located on the north side of Montalcino. The distinctive characteristics of Brunello di Montalcino produced by this company which takes its name from the valley in which it is located are the great balance between body and perfume.
Bramante Abbruzzese returned to this property that his ancestors had cultivated for centuries in 1953. He began cultivating Sangivese grosso and bottled it under a Consortium label with the family name on the bottles. In 1977, Bramante decided to bottle his wines under the Valdicava label, testifying to the place where the grapes came from.
In 1987 Bramante’s nephew, Vincenzo Abruzzese, joined the company and began to take care of both the vineyard and the cellar.
If until then the wines of Valdicava were gruff, rustic and in need of extreme aging to be tamed, with Vincenzo the wines enter a second phase which sees greater balance without ignoring Bramante’s teachings for this.
From 1999 onwards, the wines entered a third third. The Brunello di Montalcino di Valdicava acquire a unique harmony that combines balance, power and fruit expressiveness. Vincenzo is sure that this transformation is due to the long work in the vineyards over the last 25 years.
All Valdicava grapes are grown organically and no pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used in the vineyards.
