Renzo Marinai Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 is a powerful and solid wine that opens slowly in the glass. The scent reveals dark fruit, ripe cherries, spices and river stone. It has a dense tannic texture. The sip is full and satisfying. The freshness of Sangiovese contributes to the balance. Renzo Marinai is a small company of about 6 hectares of vineyards located in one of the most renowned places in the Chianti Classico appellation: the Conca d’Oro of Panzano in Chianti. The vineyards are located in San Martino a Cecione, just outside the village of Panzano at about 400 m above sea level. Alongside the Sangiovese there is always a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon which, especially in difficult years, brings a contribution of tannin and structure. The style of the Chianti Classicos produced by Renzo Marinai is well marked: substance and body, with an excellent concentration of ripe fruit, spices and leather. Muscular wines that require an accompaniment of the same tenor to maintain balance.
