Description
Poggerino Bugialla Chianti Classico Riserva is produced only in the best vintages. 100% Sangiovese from the “Bugialla” vineyard, the oldest on the estate (planted in 1973) with a rocky substrate that favors low yields. The wine spends 18 months in tonneaux (half new) and casks, followed by 16 months in bottle before release. It has great structure and important aging potential. Dark ruby color with berries, licorice and tobacco on the nose; the tannins are full and round. Piero and Benedetta Lanza have been running Poggerino since the end of the 1980s, when they took to heart the fate of this company in Radda in Chianti followed up to that moment by their father. Piero takes care of the 11 hectares of vineyard and with extreme passion and competence lets the full potential of the Poggerino terroir be expressed through the Sangiovese. Great attention to detail: biodynamic agriculture, careful choice of clones to plant, cover crops, manual harvesting. Every choice is made to ensure that the grapes have the best possible combination of concentration, acidity and ripe tannins. Exclusive use of indigenous yeasts, modern winemaking techniques, and aging in barrels complete the process.
