Description

The Podere Capaccia Chianti Classico is aged for a year in large barrels to ensure that the delicate fruity notes are not covered by the tannins of the wood. The goal is to create a wine that reflects the terroir of Radda in Chianti and that has the structure to evolve over a long time.

Podere Capaccia is located on a hill overlooking the Pesa valley in the municipality of Radda in Chianti. The buildings that make up Capaccia are the ruins of a medieval village dating back to the 12th and 14th centuries. After the Second World War and with the end of sharecropping, the small village was abandoned and only at the beginning of the 1970s did it come back to life and become a cult among lovers of Chianti Classico thanks to the Pacini family.

The estate is experiencing another renaissance with newly renovated vineyards and the construction of a new cellar. The future of Podere Capaccia is in the hands of the Belgian owner Herman de Bode.

On the other hand, the position of Podere Capaccia is ideal for producing great wines. The soils are predominantly made up of sandstone, limestone and shale. This allows an exceptional drainage in case of abundant rains and pushes the vines to seek the right nourishment in depth with their roots.

With an altitude of 550 meters above sea level, temperatures cool down at night even during the hottest period of the summer, this allows for a slow and balanced ripening of the fruit. With a southern exposure, the vineyards are able to receive all the necessary sunlight to ensure that the grapes reach perfect ripeness.
