Description
The Pianpolvere Soprano Bussia Barolo 2019 is an elegant and refined expression of the Monforte Cru. It shows enormous concentration and linearity. Of great classicism, from its brilliant but never exaggerated intensity to its collection of aromas of berries, blood orange and undergrowth. Despite the intense and exuberant nature of the bouquet, the mouth expresses the personality of the Nebbiolo grape. Historically the vineyard is divided into Vigna Pianpolvere and Vigna Pianpolvere Soprano, exclusive property of Rocche dei Manzoni. The name “Pianpolvere Soprano” dates back to the end of the 1700s when Napoleon Bonaparte built a powder magazine on this plot. Later, it became ecclesiastical property and at the beginning of the 1900s it was bought by the Fenocchio family who made wine from the grapes for sixty-eight years. From 1998 it became the property of the Migliorini family, former producers in Monforte d’Alba at Podere Rocche dei Manzoni.
A new project begins in 2020: the Barolo Pianpolvere Soprano Bussia, an exclusive wine for the Italian market, which offers a younger version of the already well-known Barolo Pianpolvere Soprano Riserva. A result made possible thanks to the replanted vines that have finally reached an age suitable for the creation of a wine with shorter aging (4 years) than the Riserva (between 7 and 10 years), which has nevertheless remained faithful to the terroir showing all its its best virtues.
