Description
The Piaggia Carmignano Riserva is a cru that comes from the Piaggia vineyard. It has a dark and dense ruby red color, with remarkable texture. On the nose, there are hints of ripe small red berries, tobacco, and chocolate, followed by sweet spices of vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate, it is powerful, enveloping, and persistent. “The Carmignano Riserva is simply the best of the appellation.” – The Wine Advocate.
Piaggia is located right in the heart of Carmignano. The total vineyard extension is about 15 hectares, divided between the areas of S. Cristina a Mezzana and the municipality of Poggio a Caiano, both regions with great potential for high-quality wines. Mauro Vannucci started this venture in 1990 due to his profound passion for great red wines, with the goal of producing wines that live up to the Carmignano appellation. In its nearly 20 years of existence, Piaggia has firmly established itself and has been defined by Gambero Rosso as “one of the best wineries in the Carmignano region, indeed, in Tuscany.” Vineyard management: Piaggia is an organic winery. Integrated pest and disease control methods are followed. They primarily use organic fertilizers, copper and sulfur-based products, but the vineyards do not see any insecticides or herbicides. The soil between the rows is worked. Low doses of sulfur dioxide (SO2) are used in the wines for preservation.
