Description
Ormanni is a historic winery on the Valdelsano side of the Chianti Classico. Located on the road that leads from Poggibonsi to Castellina in Chianti, we have news of Ormanni since the thirteenth century. Dante Aligheri mentions this family, owner of the homonymous estate, even in his Divine Comedy.
The Brini Batacchi family has been the owner of this splendid estate for the last two centuries and even today they are the ones who manage the company.
Ormanni has 68 hectares of vineyards, most of them within the Chianti Classico appellation. The remainder, being on the border with the Chianti Doc, fall into the latter.
The setting of the company as well as the style of the wines can easily be defined as traditional. Hence great territorial expressiveness which translates into wines that are sometimes austere, but with a fruit always in evidence.
