Description
Champagne Extra Brut L’Atavique by Sébastien Mouzon is a cuvée of considerable complexity that reflects the uniqueness of Verzy’s austere and calcareous terroir. It is also a cuvée that represents the work done on the estate around biodynamics and respect for the terroir.
It is a cuvée that combines 65% of Pinot Noir which provides structure and vinosity, and 35% of Chardonnay which brings finesse and freshness. All the grapes come only from the Grand Cru de Verzy terroir in the Montagne de Reims.
A quarter of this cuvé is vinified in oak barrels and 75% in small vats. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to limit the addition of sulfur. The dosage is Extra Brut (3 g / l).
Atavique is a champagne with a rich nose, which evokes dried fruit, candied citrus and spices.
On the palate it is a cuvée that offers great tension, and a long finish on evocations of white fruits
MOUZON-LEROUX has been working in biodynamics since 2008, under the guidance of Sébastien Mouzon. The estate is located entirely in the terroir of the Verzy Grand Cru in the Montagne de Reims. Sébastien Mouzon has a certain approach to winemaking that results in wines that perfectly reflect the finely austere taste of Verzy’s clayey-limestone terroir. The house wines are imbued with remarkable finesse and balance.
