Description
Il Duemilaventuno di Sergio Manetti 2021 – Montevertine (Magnum 1.5 L)
On June 29th, 1921, Sergio Manetti was born – the visionary founder and soul of Montevertine. One hundred years later, in October 2021, the finest Sangiovese grapes from the historic vineyards of Montevertine Vecchia and Le Pergole Torte were harvested to create a wine dedicated to him. Bottled on September 24th, 2024, in only 1,000 individually numbered magnums, this wine carries the weight and meaning of an extraordinary story.
The label features a linoleum engraving by Maestro Alberto Manfredi, depicting the faces of Sergio and a woman, sealing the deep bond between memory and identity. Even the name chosen recalls a personal chapter in Sergio’s history: in 1989 and 1991 he had already decided to sign, with his own name, a wine born from the very best selection of Sangiovese.
Il Duemilaventuno is more than a celebration. It embodies the essence of Radda’s Sangiovese, with its austere yet elegant character, freshness, and vibrant energy that promise long aging. The bouquet opens with deep aromas of red fruits, spices, dried flowers, and balsamic notes; the palate is broad and vibrant, with firm tannins and remarkable vitality.
For us at Casa Porciatti, this magnum holds a special value. Montevertine is an estate we have always worked closely with, and sharing a wine like this means transmitting not only the greatness of a terroir and a grape, but also the story of a man who left an indelible mark on Tuscan wine. A rare and precious collector’s magnum, to be opened only on occasions that deserve to be remembered forever.
