Description
Monterotondo Vaggiolata Chianti Classico is a wine clearly oriented towards underlining the purity and genuineness of the fruit. The scent is delicate and bright with berries, dog rose and wild flowers. On the palate you can taste the sweetness of the grapes and the natural acidity of the fruit. Very drinkable.
Monterotondo was born in 1959 with the grandfather of the current owner, Saverio Basagni. The estate is located in Gaiole in Chianti, and the farm dates back to 1056.
Saverio and his wife Fabiana are the ones who manage the property today. All the vineyards have been replanted and
the extension is 3.5 hectares (all in the Chianti Classico denomination), of which 3 hectares cultivated with Sangiovese and 0.5 hectares cultivated with Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera and Colorino. The cellar has been completely renovated over the years and is equipped with stainless steel tanks and a bottling system. The wines rest for a period of 12 months in oak barrels with a capacity of 7.5 and 10 hectoliters.
The company’s philosophy is to make excellent wine without the use of chemical products, in fact Monterotondo has been certified organic since 2003.
