Description
Melini’s Vigneti la Selvanella Chianti Cassico Riserva 2020 is a pure Sangiovese, coming from a single vineyard located in Radda in Chianti, on soils of alberese, galestro and calcareous marl. Extending over 50 hectares and planted in the 1960s, this vineyard is located at approximately 400 meters above sea level with south-west exposure. It was the first Chianti Classico to be identified as an expression of a single cru, with the first production dating back to 1969.
The grapes are fermented in stainless steel in contact with the skins for approximately 3 weeks. Subsequently, the wine ages for 30 months in French oak barrels, followed by a further year of aging in the bottle.
In the glass, it has a ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose, there are notes of raspberry, ripe plum, undergrowth, balsamic herbs, toasted almond, leather and sweet spices such as cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is complex and elegant, with a good balance between freshness and flavor, and a persistent finish with fruity and spicy notes.
