Description
The Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna Barbischio by Maurizio Alongi Magnum is one of those bottles that Sangiovese enthusiasts are chasing at the moment. just over 4000 bottles of a wine that leaves no one indifferent due to its territorial expressiveness and ability to interpret the grape variety in a true and original way.
Maurizio Alongi is a Sienese winemaker who, after many years of experience in various Chianti and Italian companies, has decided to express his talent in the territory that is closest to his heart: Chianti Classico. The project began after having discovered two small vineyards near the medieval village of Barbischio near Gaiole in Chianti, planted in the early seventies.
The extension of the vineyards, just over one hectare and the very low yields also due to the age of the plants, mean that the production of this Chianti Classico Riserva is truly limited.
The vineyards are located at 435 meters above sea level with a prevailing southern exposure. The main variety is Sangiovese, accompanied by black Malvasia which gives color and roundness and by Canaiolo, which enriches the aromatic heritage of the blend.
The company is in organic conversion.
