Description
The Brunello di Montalcino Mastrojanni VINEYARD BACK OF DONKEY 2016 is agile and concentrated, which evokes aromas of strawberry, cherry, currant, spices and tobacco. It shows intensity and grip, with leather and licorice accents resonating in the finish. Good structure and persistent on the chalky and mineral aftertaste. Brunello di Montalcino Mastrojanni VIGNA BACK OF DONKEY comes from an old vineyard of 45 years managed in biodynamic and certified organic. It gives the maximum expression of the indigenous Sangiovese. It offers a great personality and tradition where a superb and varied aromatic baggage is inserted on a solid, but also dense and tight tannic texture, which together with a fragrant acidity is a guarantee of superb aging potential.
Mastrojanni is located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the south-eastern corner of Montalcino, in the province of Siena. The soil gives great character to the Sangiovese of this historic estate. The soils are rich in gravel, clay, limestone and sandstone. Mastrojanni covers over 90 hectares, 25 of which are vineyards. The hectares dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino are 14, with vineyards often over 35 years of age. The height varies from 150 meters to 420 meters above sea level. The area enjoys 360 ° exposure, with more or less steep slopes. The average density is 5,300 vines per hectare, with a yield of less than 5 tons per hectare.
Mastrojanni has written history with its wines since 1975, collecting prizes granted by the best wine critics. Today, thanks to an exceptional terroir and men who have believed in this project for decades, Mastrojanni has become one of the most appreciated producers of Montalcino.
The Illy Group has been at the helm of the property since 2008 and is the Italian ambassador in the world for high quality products
