Description
The 2019 Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino presents hints of undergrowth, Mediterranean scrub and great minerality, distinctive characteristics of the Castelnuovo dell’Abate sub-area. The wine ages for 36 months in Allier oak barrels and refines in the bottle for at least 6 months to then present a brilliant and intense ruby red with pale garnet reflections. Vanilla blends with spices and a note of tobacco leaf. On the palate it is pleasant and of good length. The ending is generous
Mastrojanni is located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the south-eastern corner of Montalcino, in the province of Siena. The soil gives great character to the Sangiovese of this historic estate. The soils are rich in gravel, clay, limestone and sandstone. Mastrojanni extends over 90 hectares, 25 of which are under vineyards. There are 14 hectares dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino, with vineyards often over 35 years of age. The height varies from 150 meters to 420 meters above sea level. The area enjoys 360° exposure, with more or less steep slopes. The average density is 5,300 vines per hectare, with a yield of less than 5 tons per hectare.
Mastrojanni has been writing history with his wines since 1975, collecting awards granted by the best wine critics. Today, thanks to an exceptional terroir and men who have believed in this project for decades, Mastrojanni has become one of the most appreciated producers in Montalcino.
