Description

Barolo di Massolino is obtained from Nebbiolo grapes grown in vineyards located in the Serralunga d’Alba area at an altitude between 320 and 360 m above sea level.

It is a traditional Barolo with fermentation and maceration lasting about 15 days at temperatures ranging from 31 to 33 ° C. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels for at least 30 months and left to rest in the bottle for at least a year.

The history of the Massolino family and their wine intertwined with the history of Serralunga d’Alba since 1896, when Giovanni founded the company. Giovanni was the first person to bring electricity to the town. An enterprising, tenacious and creative man, he is the progenitor of a family that has made the combination of research and tradition a distinctive trait.

The first Massolino winery was built by Giuseppe, Giovanni’s son, who, together with his sister Angela, extended the company with the purchase of new land and, in 1934, was one of the founders of the Consortium for the Defense of Barolo and Barbaresco . At that time, Joseph had six children. Three of them, Giovanni, Camilla and Renato, followed in their father’s footsteps, expanding the company by purchasing cru vineyards that are authentic jewels: Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda.

In the 1990s, Franco and Roberto, both winemakers, joined the family estate. Their work condenses the experience of an entire family and the ambition of a new generation, determined to make an important contribution to the innovation of oenological and agronomic techniques and to the image of the estate in Italy and abroad.
