Description
Massolino Barolo Parussi is the first Barolo in the company’s history born outside the “Serralungo” borders, in another very local area: that of Castiglione Falletto. The vinification and traditional aging that he shares with the “brothers” of Serralunga d’Alba enhance the well-known ability of the Nebbiolo grape to give different expressions as the microclimate and soil in which it is grown vary, albeit minimally. Perfect in combination with the rich dishes of Piedmontese cuisine, stewed meats and medium and long-aged cheeses.
The history of the Massolino and their wine have been intertwined with the history of Serralunga d’Alba since 1896, when Giovanni founded the company. Giovanni was the first person to bring electricity to the village. An enterprising, tenacious and creative man, he is the progenitor of a family that has made the combination of research and tradition a distinctive trait.
The first Massolino cellar was built by Giuseppe, son of Giovanni, who, together with his sister Angela, extended the company with the purchase of new land and, in 1934, was one of the founders of the Consortium for the Defense of Barolo and Barbaresco . At that time, Joseph had six children. Three of them, Giovanni, Camilla and Renato, followed in their father’s footsteps, expanding the company with the purchase of cru vineyards that are authentic jewels: Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda.
In the 1990s, Franco and Roberto, both winemakers, joined the family estate. Their work condenses the experience of an entire family and the ambition of a new generation, determined to make an important contribution to the innovation of winemaking and agronomic techniques and to the image of the estate in Italy and abroad.
