Description

Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie 2016 is the Cru of Il Marroneto. Vineyard located in a strategic position near a 13th century chapel in the hills not far from the north face of Montalcino. A wine of rare complexity, it has received the highest awards from the world’s leading wine experts. Few bottles that are selling like hot cakes among the admirers of the best Sangiovese.

Il Marroneto takes its name from an ancient tower dating back to the 13th century where the nuns (who lived in the convent of the Madonna delle Grazie) kept the chestnuts used to make flour for bread.

Il Marroneto is located in the northern quadrant of Montalcino, not far from the village. The 5.8 hectares of the estate were planted at different times: a first part in 1975, a second in 1977 and the rest in winter between 1982-1983. The vineyards are located 400 meters above sea level, and the soils are an intricate mix of large sand of limestone and marl. The vines are planted with wide spacing in mind so that the Sangiovese thrives on nutrient-rich soil.

By creating some of the most elegant and long-lived Brunellis in the appellation, Alessandro Mori can be counted among the most traditional producers of Brunello. The good practices of the Mori foresee a minimum intervention in the vineyard, without the use of chemical products. Fermentation entrusted to indigenous yeasts and aging in traditional oak barrels. Alessandro Mori’s goal is to create Brunello di Montalcino that express a sense of place
