Description
The Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva del Colombaio di Santa Chiara Albereta has a straw yellow color with golden reflections. A captivating scent with notes of apricot, which blend with the balsamic notes of maturation in wooden barrels. On the palate it is very structured, with vibrant and vivid acidity. Perfect for long aging.
The Colombaio di Santa Chiara is located near San Gimignano, on the Sienese hills and has belonged to the Logi family for about half a century. Il Colombaio di Santa Chiara was transformed into a winery in 2002, when the youngest son of the Logi family, Alessio, had already begun his enology studies and wanted to put his efforts and passion to good use in this work. At that moment his two older brothers, Giampiero and Stefano, decided to join him in the wonderful and complex world of wine. A few years earlier they had bought the Parish of San Donato with the rectory and fields. Their first small cellar was built there, giving them the opportunity to start making wine. Their father Mario has always been there to help and support his children with his vast knowledge of the vineyards. Always attentive to the territory and to obtaining high quality wines, this family cultivates the native vines with rigorous biological techniques. The harvest takes place only when fully ripe and the boxes are transported directly to the cellar. Here they are selected again, cleaned and started to macerate. The vinification is rigorously carried out at a controlled temperature, with the aim of enhancing the characteristics of the vine, in particular the Vernaccia.
Their single vineyards “Campo della Pieve” and “L’Albereta” have been continuously awarded with the prestigious Gambero Rosso awards. Annual production: 90,000 bottles.
