Description
Il Colle Brunello di Montalcino 2020 tastes like good, honest, rigorous Sangiovese. A wine that whispers rather than flexes its muscles, at times reserved, it releases all its energy to those who will wait for it in the glass. Il Colle is located in the northern quadrant of Montalcino, on the road that leads to Torrenieri, but part of the vineyards are also in the area south of Montalcino, not far from Castelnuovo dell’Abate for a total of 7 hectares of vineyards.
The company was founded in 1972 with Alberto Carli who bought it from the Galsassi family and wanted Giulio Gambelli, master taster and undisputed Sangiovese expert, as a consultant at his side. Today at the helm of Il Colle is Alberto’s daughter, Caterina Carli who produces the wines according to the indications of the late Giulio. At Il Colle we work in the most natural way possible, the production of grapes is 40/50 quintals per hectare, in the cellar the wine ferments spontaneously with natural yeasts, long maceration times, no filtering and aging in barrels Slavonian oak.
