Vigna di Milo is one of the most representative expressions of Etna Bianco Superiore DOC, the historically most important subzone for white wines on Mount Etna. The wine is produced in the commune of Milo, on the eastern slope of the volcano, an area defined by a cool climate, constant ventilation, and significant day–night temperature shifts — ideal conditions for the slow and complete ripening of Carricante.

The grapes come from historic vineyards located between 700 and 900 meters above sea level, trained in the traditional Etna bush-vine system (alberello etneo) on deep volcanic soils rich in minerals and with excellent drainage. Under these conditions, Carricante develops remarkable aromatic precision and a naturally tense, vertical structure.

The aromatic profile is clean and elegant, with notes of white flowers, citrus, green apple, Mediterranean herbs and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is fresh, saline and mineral, with great definition and a long, vibrant finish, characteristic of the finest Etna Bianco Superiore wines.

The Producer: I Vigneri

I Vigneri is one of the most respected and authoritative projects on Mount Etna, led by Salvo Foti, a central figure in modern Sicilian viticulture. The name recalls the ancient guild of Etna winegrowers founded in 1435, whose spirit Foti has revived: protection of the land, respect for the landscape, and an absolute focus on the vineyard.

The project brings together small parcels of historic vineyards, many of them ungrafted, cultivated on terraces of ancient lava flows at high elevation. Vineyard work is almost entirely manual, following agricultural practices that respect the environment and preserve biodiversity.

In the cellar, the approach is minimal and non-interventionist: spontaneous fermentations, very limited adjustments, and no stylistic manipulation. The goal is to allow the wine to express, with transparency and precision, the true character of the volcano — energy, minerality, tension, and exceptional aging potential.
