Description

Hofstätter’s Pinot Nero Alto Adige Riserva Mazon has a dense and deep ruby-garnet color. Extremely typical aromas of undergrowth, small fruits and sweet and persuasive morello cherries. Warm, harmonious, coherent, round, rich in nuances, very solid and fine in the mouth. Over time it opens wide and velvety, almost caressing, with the graceful refinement of a wine of great caliber, so much so that it becomes even more solid after two years in the bottle.

This Pinot Noir was born in the Hofstätter vineyards on the Mazon plateau. The Pinot Nero grape was successfully introduced in South Tyrol at the beginning of the 19th century. It was soon confirmed that the gentle slopes and microclimate of the Mazon plateau offered the ideal conditions for producing a Pinot Noir of international stature.

75% of the grapes are separated from the stalks, while 25% is poured intact into the barrels. Fermentation lasts about 10 days with the must always in direct contact with the skins. After two careful decanting, this wine ages for a year in small oak barrels, after assembly it ages another six months in large oak barrels and then a year in the bottle
