Description
Giuseppe Mascarello’s Langhe Nebbiolo comes from vineyards in the commune of Castiglione Falletto, planted on calcareous-clay soils facing south and southwest, at altitudes between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. The vines have an average age of about 25 years, and the farming practices are rooted in tradition and vineyard balance. Grapes are harvested by hand, and the wine is made using a traditional method: fermentation in cement tanks followed by aging in large Slavonian oak casks for about one year.
Langhe Nebbiolo is the perfect introduction to the Mascarello estate style: a pure and elegant Nebbiolo, marked by floral notes, silky tannins, and remarkable depth for what is technically the entry-level wine. It is made to be enjoyed young, but can also develop beautifully with a few years of bottle age.
The Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio estate, now led by Mauro Mascarello, is among the most historic and respected in Piedmont. While the winery is renowned for its iconic Barolo crus such as Monprivato, Villero, and Perno, even its more accessible wines like this Langhe Nebbiolo are crafted with the same care and philosophy.
