Giacomo Fenocchio
Barolo DOCG Bussia “90 dì”
At the heart of Monforte d’Alba, within the historic Bussia MGA, lies one of the most faithful expressions of traditional Barolo crafted by Giacomo Fenocchio, a family estate that has long stood for coherence, integrity, and respect for Barolo’s classical identity.
Bussia is one of the great crus of the Langhe: a natural amphitheatre of well-exposed, ventilated vineyards rooted in Helvetian marl soils, rich in limestone with a strong clay component. These conditions give rise to Nebbiolo of remarkable structure and longevity. Barolo from Bussia is never immediate; it is layered, austere in youth, and slowly unfolds over time, always maintaining tension, precision, and a finely woven tannic framework.
The name “90 dì” refers to the long skin maceration period, a historic practice at the Fenocchio estate. This is not about forceful extraction, but rather a patient, traditional approach that allows the Nebbiolo of Bussia to fully express its depth and complexity, following its own natural rhythm. Vinification is carried out according to classical methods, with spontaneous fermentations and extended ageing in large oak casks, without shortcuts or concessions to fashion.
Giacomo Fenocchio is a producer deeply committed to faithfulness to place. There are no superfluous interventions, no stylistic overlays—only vineyard, vintage, and cru. The result is a Barolo that speaks clearly of its origin, combining power and precision, aromatic depth, and structural discipline.
Barolo Bussia “90 dì” is made for those who seek authentic Barolo—a wine that evolves patiently in the glass and over time, faithfully telling the story of one of the Langhe’s most noble and complex sites.
