Description
The Barolo Arione 2020 by Giacomo Conterno is the novelty in the Conterno house. The wine is the son of the Cru Arione in Serralunga d’Alba and is presented in 2018 with its first vintage. Giacomo Conterno’s Barolo Arione 2020 is a wine characterized by richness and density, with a smooth mineral note that never hides the palate. The richness of the soils of this vineyard corresponds to the density and structure of the wine. Most of the vineyard was planted in the 1960s with some replanting in the 1980s and 1990s. If France is elegance, Arione is power.
Cantine Giacomo Conterno is one of the biggest names in all of Piedmont. The estate was founded in 1908 when Giacomo’s father, Giovanni Conterno, started a tavern in the town of San Giuseppe. Giovanni made Barolo from purchased grapes and sold what was not necessary for the tavern, as was customary throughout the region at the beginning of the twentieth century. The Riserva Barolo Monfortino was bottled for the first time in 1920 produced by Giovanni and his son Giacomo upon his return from the war. The myth began like this.
