Description
The Meursault Les Grands Charrons from Domaine Michel Bouzereau has a bouquet of lime blossom and citrus fruits followed by a touch of stone on the finish and a captivating freshness
Placed at the same altitude as the Premiers Crus, Les Grands Charrons is a large vineyard in Meursault with more limestone in the soil, where Domaine Michel Bouzereau holds the majority of its two parcels.
The Bouzereau clan is widespread in the village of Meursault, with Domaine Michel Bouzereau at the forefront. Michel Bouzereau comes from a large family of wine producers and has held the position of President of the Union of Burgundy Growers. His is definitely a voice worth listening to. Its wines are very traditional. He ferments in barrels and leaves them on the lees for nine months. Determined that his Burgundies smell and taste only of wine, new wood is accorded minimal importance. Michel’s son, Jean Baptiste, is now responsible for the production of the seventeen wines of this 11-hectare estate.
Jean-Baptiste has respected his father’s more traditionalist practices, but has instilled a fresher, livelier element in the wines that enhances their charm. They are wines that offer an excellent quality-price ratio and are reference examples for each of the Crus.
Their Bourgogne Blanc comes from vineyards that are within the boundaries of Meursault but just outside the appellation. For this reason its generic Burgundy is considered excellent for good value for money, especially because this wine is treated with the same care, attention and barrel aging as its older brothers.
