Description
The Clos Rougeard Saumur Champigny Le Bourg 2017 is fresh, generous, intense, and savory on the palate, with fine tannins and intense aromas of cherry. It’s a mature, round, and juicy Champigny.
“Le Bourg” is the most precious jewel of Clos Rougeard, a legendary name in the Loire that has redefined the identity and potential of Cabernet Franc in the world. Originating from a small, organically farmed plot planted on clay-limestone soils in Parnay, in the heart of Saumur-Champigny, this wine is the result of old vines and very low yields, vinified with meticulous care.
The 2017 vintage boasts great purity and depth, powerfully expressing the character of the terroir and the unique style of the estate. Following a long maceration, fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. It is then aged for approximately 24 months in barriques (mostly new), without filtration or clarification.
An unconventional, intense, and inimitable Cabernet Franc, capable of evolving magnificently over time. A wine for meditation or special occasions, it pairs well with rich dishes, game, or aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C (61–64°F), after a long oxygenation or decanting.
