Description

Cigliano di Sopra Vigneto Branca 2021 is an exceptional wine that originates from its eponymous vineyard. Sangiovese grapes, carefully selected and harvested by hand. Characterized by natural fermentation, it uses a particular technique which involves the use of 50% whole bunches, giving the wine a unique structure and character. The maturation process takes place in French oak barriques and tonneaux for a period of 14 months, which enriches the wine with complex and refined nuances.

Cigliano di Sopra Vigneto Branca 2021 is a wine that strikes for its beauty and brightness, characterized by a fresh and varied aromatic bouquet. Its drink is affable and graceful, with a perfect balance that invites you to drink with pleasure, without ever weighing it down. Already in a state of grace, the wine promises a great aging prospect

Matteo Vaccari and Maddalena Fucile are two young winemakers who have extensive experience in Tuscany and beyond. After graduating in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Florence in 2017, the duo honed their winemaking techniques at Tenuta degli Dei, Fontodi e Isole and Olena in Tuscany. Next, they both went to America to work with two of California’s top winemakers, Sashi Moorman and Rajat Parr, at their California and Oregon estates Domaine de la Cote, Sandhi, Pence Ranch and Evening Land. Eventually, Maddalena returned to the family estate, Cigliano di Sopra, in northern Chianti, where she and Matteo restored the estate’s old vineyards through organic and biodynamic agriculture. Today they cultivate seven hectares on sandy-clayey soils rich in limestone. All the fruit is harvested by hand, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in wood.

Fattoria Cigliano di Sopra is located in the northernmost part of the Chianti Classico area, precisely in the Cigliano hamlet of the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa. The thirty-two hectares of the farm includes 7 hectares of vineyards from which the company’s wines are obtained and 17 hectares of olive groves from which the extra virgin olive oil is obtained, the remaining 8 hectares are represented by parks and woods. The historic Villa within the Fattoria complex is inhabited by the owners, who look after and preserve the historic complex with dedication.
