Description
The 2016 Sammarco of Castello dei Rampolla is a blend where Cabernet Sauvignon predominates with 90%, then Sangiovese 5% and Merlot 5%. The wine comes from a 15-hectare vineyard located at 380 m a.s.l. facing south-west, south-east, on soil composed of alberese a galestro. The density of the plant is about 6,500 plants per hectare from which an average of 22,000 bottles are obtained depending on the vintage.
The name Sammarco is in honor of Marco di Napoli, brother of Maurizia and Luca, owners of the Rampolla Castle in Panzano in Chianti.
The Castello dei Rampola is a historic estate owned by the Di Napoli family since 1964, located in the Conca d’Oro di Panzano. It is part of that group of producers who helped revive the Chianti region in the 1970s and 1980s. Castello dei Rampolla has been working in biodynamics since 1994 and its wines have become cult for enthusiasts for consistency and ability to interpret the terroir
