Description
The D’Alceo 2019 from Castello di Rampolla has an astonishing intensity and a high-class pedigree. Rich, broad and explosive, 2019 is impressive straight away. Lavender, rose petal, spice, kirsch, mint and violet lead to a heart of inky dark blue/purple berry fruit. Soft contours and soft, silky tannins give the 2019 immediacy, yet potential for aging.
D’Alceo is the name of the wine and the 6 hectare vineyard of the same name from which it comes, named in honor of the father of Maurizia and Luca Di Napoli, current owners of Castello dei Rampolla in Panzano in Chianti.
Since its debut in 1996, D’Alceo immediately impressed with its opulence, expressiveness of fruit and spiciness and elegant tannic texture. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot it is now considered one of the best Supertuscans on the market.
The Rampola Castle is a historic estate owned by the Di Napoli family since 1964, located in the Conca d’Oro of Panzano. He is part of that group of producers who contributed to relaunching the Chianti region in the seventies and eighties. Castello dei Rampolla has been working biodynamically since 1994 and its wines have become cult favorites for enthusiasts due to their consistency and ability to interpret the terroir
