Description

I Sodi di S. Niccolò 2019 is the standard bearer of Castellare, the pride of the Chianti company for having demonstrated the greatness of Sangioveto in blend with black Malvasia: the 1985 vintage ranked 6th in the first Top 100 drawn up by Wine Spectator in 1988. I Sodi di S. Niccolò 2018 has an intense ruby red color and with a great olfactory concentration, thanks to the presence of a ripe red fruit that leads to notes of jam, but also spices, vanilla and licorice. In the mouth the wine is characterized by a dense and elegant texture, also supported by the important acidity of the Sangiovese, the tannins are absolutely sweet and the finish is long and very persistent.

Castellare di Castellina is the Chianti property of Paolo Panerai in Castellina in Chianti. Their wines have labels that do not go unnoticed and which have now become cult for enthusiasts. With each vintage, the Castellare label features a different little bird, which symbolizes the estate’s commitment to environmentally friendly cultivation. The birds selected for the labels are among the rarest creatures in Chianti and represent birds threatened with extinction, mainly due to synthetic chemicals and hunting, both prohibited on this property. There are 33 hectares of vineyards in a beautiful natural amphitheater with vines that can even reach 45 years of age.
