Description
The 2021 Castellare di Castellina Chianti Classico Riserva features a dark, full expression of Sangiovese (with 5% Canaiolo). On the nose hints of berries, dog rose, toasted walnut and earthy tones. A robust expression, but well focused, a direct style with clear outlines. The wine shows a hint of sweetness on the finish, supported by a fresh acidity.
Castellare di Castellina is the Chianti property of Paolo Panerai in Castellina in Chianti.
Their wines have labels that do not go unnoticed and which have now become cult favorites for enthusiasts.
With each vintage, the Castellare label features a different small bird, symbolizing the estate’s commitment to environmentally friendly cultivation. The birds selected for the labels are among the rarest creatures in Chianti and represent birds threatened by extinction, mainly due to synthetic chemicals and hunting, both of which are prohibited on this property.
There are 33 hectares of vineyard in a beautiful natural amphitheater with vines that are up to 45 years old.
