Description
Cascina Penna-Currado, established by Elena Penna and Luca Currado Vietti alongside their children Giulia and Michele, marks a return to the family’s roots in the heart of Italy’s Langhe region. The winery is housed in a historic farmhouse dating back to 1554 in Serralunga d’Alba, formerly known as Cascina Lazzarito and once owned by the Marchesi Falletti, which has been meticulously restored to accommodate their new winemaking venture.
The Langhe Nebbiolo “Bricco Lago” 2023 originates from vineyards in the San Sebastiano area of Monforte d’Alba, characterized by clay and limestone soils and surrounded by rich biodiversity. The vinification process includes cold maceration followed by whole berry fermentation, aiming to preserve the finesse of the Nebbiolo grapes. The wine is then aged for 8 to 12 months in barrels, with bottling occurring in the subsequent autumn.
This Nebbiolo exhibits a classic aromatic profile, featuring floral notes of rose, alongside red and black fruits. On the palate, it is harmonious, with elegant tannins and a persistent finish. It pairs excellently with grilled red meats and medium-aged cheeses.
