Description
The Brancaia Ilatraia 2020 comes from the company’s Maremma grapes. It is a blend of 40% cabernet sauvignon, 40% petit verdot and 20% cabernet franc which masterfully interprets the terroir of this sunny slice of Tuscany. A soft and lively wine on the palate, it seduces the nose thanks to its olfactory intensity and complexity
The history of Brancaia is relatively recent. It dates back to the early eighties when the Swiss couple Brigitte and Bruno Widmer fell in love with the Chianti Classico hills and decided to buy an abandoned farm just outside Castellina in Chianti: Brancaia.
The success of the wines from this estate was almost immediate and hence the need to invest in the nearby Radda in Chianti, in the Poppi area and subsequently also in the Maremma not far from the Tuscan coast.
The Widmers’ passion was soon passed on to their daughter Barbara who, after studying oenology, personally follows and manages the company.
The identity of Brancaia wines is very precise. Its fans appreciate it for the well-ripe fruit and the clean aromas, the delicacy of the sip, always present in its simpler wines and the important structure in its more ambitious wines.
