Description
Borgo la Stella Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2018 is a wine born of its terroir where the altitude and the soil greatly influence the result. Brilliant ruby red colour. The aromas express small red fruits, especially fresh raspberries and wild strawberries. Very elegant, full and balanced between acidity and integrated tannins. The finish is a crescendo of taste sensations, with a slightly salty finish.
The Borgo La Stella farm is located on the edge of the municipality of Radda in Chianti, on the road that leads from Vagliagli to Castellina in Chianti at over 600 m a.s.l. on soils that tend to be clayey in nature, with an important presence of skeleton (Alberese and Galestro). Only 6 hectares of vineyards. Part of the vineyards are arranged in “terraces” offering a magnificent glance and taking the visitor back in time when all the Chianti was cultivated in this way.
The calcareous nature of these rocks is crucial in the production of red wines of great olfactory finesse and smooth tannins.
The peculiarity of Borgo La Stella is linked to the cultivation of Sangiovese, following the ancient system of the “Lucernina”, which provides for a high plant density with over 9000 vines/ha and a low yield per vine, with only 2/3 screw clusters. This vineyard management system makes it possible to obtain grapes with an excellent degree of ripeness, particularly suited to the production of high quality wines. The entire agronomic management aims to limit interventions to the minimum possible, completely banning herbicides and insecticides.
