Description
The Bertinga Volta 2019 is a red wine that embodies the excellence of the Bertinga winery, a young winemaking reality located in Gaiole in Chianti. The name “Volta” comes from the amphitheater-like shape of the Merlot vineyard, which covers 2.4778 hectares at an altitude of 380 meters above sea level, with a northeast exposure. This vineyard is situated not far from the renowned L’Apparita parcel of Castello di Ama, one of the most prestigious references for Italian Merlot.
The Volta 2019 takes inspiration from this style, offering a wine that harmoniously blends the typical characteristics of Merlot with the vibrancy and freshness often associated with the best Chianti wines. The 2019 vintage stands out for its balance and finesse: on the nose, balsamic notes, red fruits, and delicate floral hints emerge, while on the palate, the wine is fresh, with well-calibrated acidity and excellent integration of fruit, wood, and tannins. The tannins, though present, provide a more subtle grip compared to fuller-bodied Merlots, giving the wine a pleasant elegance and versatility.
Anatoly Korneev and Maxim Kashirin are known as ambassadors of Italian wine in Russia, thanks to their import company, Simple, which has been a leader in the sector for 25 years. In 2015, they realized their long-standing dream of becoming producers by acquiring three high-altitude vineyards in the Gaiole in Chianti area: La Porta di Vertine, Punta di Adine, and Bertinga, the historic plot that also lent its name to their cutting-edge winery.
